The Awards ceremony attracted the crowds to Market Square on Friday 6 July and even the weather played ball.
It was smiles all round last Friday when the winners from each individual category and the four corporate categories were announced at the Awards ceremony and each was presented with beautiful glass trophies, especially commissioned for the event.
Event sponsor HSBC then presented the overall winner’s trophy which was awarded to the winner of the States employee category – Martine Johnson from the Education Department.
Martine was delighted but totally surprised at her success:
“I didn’t even know I had been nominated until this week. It was a shock to win my category and then I couldn’t believe it when my name was read out as overall winner! I am so grateful to everyone who voted for me.”
Vince Colfer of event sponsor HSBC thanked all those members of the public who had taken the time and trouble to nominate people from around the island who they thought had gone that extra mile in delivering outstanding service:
“HSBC is very pleased to be associated with this event; it’s a great way to celebrate excellence in customer service and recognise those individuals who excel”.
