The Guernsey public has from today until the 28 June to nominate individuals or teams who they feel have delivered the highest quality customer service on the island.

Now in its third year, the event this year is being run in partnership with new headline sponsor, Livingroom Estate Agency and is also supported by the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, Island FM and a number of individual category sponsors. The awards aim to showcase individuals who deliver service excellence across all customer-facing sectors – from retail to hospitality, from public sector to charitable volunteers.

There are ten award categories including two exciting new ones for 2013:

Best Customer Experience – aimed at individuals and teams who have given a consistently high quality service throughout the entire customer experience;

Aspiring Star – an award specifically for individuals of 18 and under.

People can vote for as many individuals or teams as they wish and all shortlisted nominees are selected by a panel of judges and invited to a special awards presentation ceremony taking place on 5 July in Market Square which is open to the public. Winners of each category will be announced and from these an overall Guernsey winner of “Customer Service of the Year” is chosen.

Julie Todd of event organisers Todd and Associates hopes that there will be another good response:

“Last year’s event really caught public imagination and the number of nominations surpassed all expectations – over 1,000. It would be amazing to equal or even top that number. It’s extremely easy to vote – people can text, vote online or fill out a form which can be found at a large number of locations around the island.”

Last year’s overall winner Martine Johnson, receptionist at the Education Department commented on her success:

‘I was very surprised to win. I was nominated anonymously and couldn’t believe it when it was announced that I was the overall winner, but I was absolutely delighted.’
